Mosquito Awareness- Have Your Say

Published on Monday, 10 June 2024 at 2:21:29 PM

Throughout 2023/24 mosquito borne diseases have continued to pose a public health risk throughout the South West of WA. The two prevalent in the South West are Ross River and Barmah Forrest Virus.
The Shire continues to run a mosquito management program, in liaison with the WA Department of Health and neighbouring Local Governments, focusing on three functions:
monitoring of mosquito larvae and adult populations
• treating major wetland breeding sites and identifying localised areas
• communication activities to enhance mosquito awareness and personal prevention strategies.
Together with the Cities of Bunbury and Busselton and the Shires of Dardanup and Harvey, the effectiveness of Fight the Bite mosquito awareness messages are being reviewed.
