How To Claim

If one of our impounded pets belongs to you, contact our Rangers on 08 9727 0222

Before we can release your animal back to you, you must:

  • Provide proof of ownership
  • Pay all fees and charges applicable
  • Register your animal in accordance with the relevant legislation.

Impound Fees

The Shire is obligated to charge all relevant fees and charges set out by Council associated with impounding an animal.

  • Sustenance Fees
  • Microchipping Fees

 All fees must be paid in the Shire's Administration Building before collection.

Fees & Charges Information

Our Impound Facility is located within the Capel Townsite and can be accessed Monday to Friday 8:30 am – 4:00 pm upon arrangement.

How to Adopt

The Shire does not adopt animals directly from our facility.

To adopt a forever friend, contact one of the following shelters:

Animal Welfare

RSPCA is Australia’s peak animal welfare organisation.

Call 1300 278 3589 to report welfare/cruelty concerns, including abandonment of animals.

Pets other than Cats and Dogs

Currently, the Shire of Capel is not able to care for animals other than cats and dogs.
