Access & Inclusion

Lady in Wheelchair on ComputerThe Shire is committed to providing accessible and inclusive services, facilities and events, and to promoting social inclusion.

Access and inclusion refers to the removal of barriers that prevent a person from participating in an equitable and dignified community life.

Access & Inclusion Plan (AIP)

One method that assists the Shire to provide equitable services and access is the development of an Access and Inclusion Plan (AIP).  Council’s AIP is used to assist the Shire with creating budgets, building or maintaining infrastructure, designing public open spaces and providing services and events.

The Shire of Capel is currently reviewing our AIP and want to hear your thoughts on how we can improve accessibility and inclusivity.

Reconciliation Action Plan

Our Vision for Reconciliation

The Shire of Capel’s vision for reconciliation is to create an inclusive community with strong relationships across cultures based on mutual respect and understanding.

Reconciliation is about strengthening relationships between Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and non-Indigenous peoples, for the benefit of all Australians.

The Shire of Capel has developed a Reconciliation Implementation Plan in order to assist with our reconciliation journey.

This Plan uses a holistic approach to create meaningful relationships, enhanced respect and promote sustainable opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people.
