Our community is vibrant, active and engaged. People who live here care about each other, their environment and their future.
The Shire of Capel is committed to making life better for our residents, through the development of our community.
To define this role, the Shire has identified a series of objectives outlined in its Strategic Community Plan. These include commitments to our Community through:
- Providing facilities and services which recognise the diverse needs of our community
- Striving to make the Shire a safe place to live, work and visit
- Preserving and enhancing the natural and built environment to ensure it is liveable, sustainable and adapts to our communities’ needs and expectations
Extensive community engagement was undertaken throughout the Shire of Capel in 2011-12 to determine community views and aspirations for our Community, resulting in the Strategic Community Plan. The Shire of Capel strives to achieve the objectives identified within the Plan through the delivery of services, facilities, infrastructure and funding.
Access for everyone
We’re committed to equal opportunity. We’ve developed a Disability Access and Inclusion Plan in accordance with the Disability Discrimination Act 1992 and meets legislative requirements.
The Shire of Capel offers a range of opportunities for young people to get involved and be part of the community they live in. There are a range of programs on offer throughout the year and the Shire aims to deliver programs to engage a broad range of young people.
The Capel Region is a skating destination. Skate popularity is continuing to grow, with the sport set to feature in the next Olympics. We want to support and manage skating in the Shire.
