In accordance with section 18(5) of the Bush Fires Act 1954, the Chief Bush Fire Control Officer and Shire President advise the following:
– Shortening of Restricted Burning Period –
Restricted burning period commences on 9 November 2025.
Due to seasonal conditions notice is hereby given that in accordance with the Bush Fires Act 1954, the restricted burning period has been shortened and will now commence on 9 November 2025. This only applies to land within the Shire of Capel.

This will allow residents to prepare for the Bush Fire Season and burn without a permit until the 9 November when it will be required to obtain a permit from your local Fire Control Officer (FCO).
We request that all private burns by landholders are registered with DFES Communication Centre on 9395 9209
