Roads Update - Impact of Recent Rainfall

Published on Friday, 8 August 2025 at 12:34:55 PM

Due to the sustained and unusually high levels of rainfall, our annual grading program is currently running significantly behind schedule. Many roads remain heavily saturated, making grading work unsafe and impractical at this time.
Attempting to grade under these conditions risks further damage, creating slippery and muddy surfaces that could become impassable and may require temporary closures for safety.
We understand the importance of maintaining safe and accessible roads and assure you that our crews will resume grading as soon as conditions improve and it is safe to proceed.
In the meantime, we ask all road users to:
▪️ Drive with caution and adjust to the current conditions, particularly in rural and unsealed areas.
▪️ Reduce speed, avoid heavy braking or rapid acceleration.
▪️ Refrain from running stock on wet road surfaces, as this can create pits that accelerate pothole formation.
Please also be aware that during storms or heavy rainfall, water may be present on roadways. Our crews will attend these locations as quickly as possible and install warning signage where necessary.
We appreciate your patience and understanding as we work through these weather-related challenges.
