Prohibited Fire Season

Just a friendly reminder that we are currently in the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱 here in the Shire of Capel.

This means we need everyone's help to reduce the risk of bushfires. The rules are simple: 𝗻𝗼 𝗯𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗶𝗻 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗼𝗽𝗲𝗻 𝗮𝗶𝗿!

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗱𝗼𝗲𝘀 "𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴" 𝗺𝗲𝗮𝗻?

It means you cannot light fires for garden waste, bonfires, or general land clearing burns. Permits to burn are not available during this time.

𝗪𝗵𝗮𝘁 𝗮𝗯𝗼𝘂𝘁 𝗕𝗕𝗤𝘀/𝗣𝗶𝘇𝘇𝗮 𝗢𝘃𝗲𝗻𝘀?

𝗚𝗮𝘀 𝗕𝗕𝗤𝘀: Are permitted, but it helps to have a fire extinguisher at hand.

𝗦𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗱 𝗙𝘂𝗲𝗹 (𝘄𝗼𝗼𝗱, 𝗰𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗰𝗼𝗮𝗹, 𝗵𝗲𝗮𝘁 𝗯𝗲𝗮𝗱𝘀): Use of these appliances is often only permitted when the Fire Danger Rating is Moderate and is strictly prohibited during a Total Fire Ban (TFB).

It's important not to confuse the 𝗣𝗿𝗼𝗵𝗶𝗯𝗶𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗕𝘂𝗿𝗻𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝗣𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗼𝗱 with a 𝗧𝗼𝘁𝗮𝗹 𝗙𝗶𝗿𝗲 𝗕𝗮𝗻 (TFB). A TFB is a separate declaration made by DFES on high-risk weather days, which imposes even stricter rules on hot works and vehicle movement.
