New Digital System at the Waste Transfer Station Gate

Published on Wednesday, 11 March 2026 at 6:00:00 PM

The Shire is introducing a new digital system at the gate of our Waste Transfer Station to improve service, accuracy, and efficiency.

From Monday 23 March 2026, we will move from a paper-based process to a tablet-based digital platform that will allow our team to:

✔️ Accurately record materials entering the facility

✔️ Automatically calculate charges

✔️ Improve waste and recycling data collection and reporting

✔️ Better track customer usage to inform future improvements

✔️ Provide quicker and tailored service on future visits

What This Means for You:

As part of the transition, residents will be asked to show proof of residential address (e.g. driver’s licence or rates notice) and provide basic details to be set up in the new system. This registration process should only need to be completed once. After your details are entered, future visits will be quicker and easier, as staff will be able to quickly locate your information in the system from your car registration number and address details.

During the Transition:

While our team and visitors become familiar with the new system, and to improve safety on site, there may be slightly longer wait times at the gate. These wait times ensure traffic can be managed throughout the site and allow you to accurately drop off your waste and recycling into the allocated bin. We appreciate your patience as we implement this important improvement.

Why We’re Making This Change:

This upgrade is a significant step forward for the Shire. The new system will:

  • Reduce paperwork
  • Improve accuracy, transparency and consistency
  • Strengthen environmental reporting
  • Help us better plan and manage waste services into the future

We thank you for your cooperation and support as we modernise our Waste Transfer Station services. For further information, please contact the Shire office on 9727 0222.
