Another chapter in the Shire of Capel Council began last night, with the Swearing-In Ceremony, officiating Elected Members in their new role on Council.

After the 2025 Local Government Election, Capel Council welcomes three new faces; Cr Brian Hastie, Cr Emily Montgomery and Cr Martin Voyez. Cr Peter McCleery was also sworn in for his fifth term, on Council. All four Councillors have been elected on a four-year term.

At last night's meeting, the newly formed Council elected Cr Fergusson as President, and Cr Rosina Mogg was voted in as Deputy President, meaning they will continue for another two years in these roles.

The ceremony required each elected Councillor to make a declaration, committing to serving their community with integrity and dedication.

Congratulations Councillors!

Council also extended its sincere gratitude to outgoing Councillors Christine Terrantroy, Ashley Dillon and Doug Kitchen for their years of dedicated service and commitment to the Shire of Capel community.

Each has contributed significantly during their respective terms, Christine serving since 2021, Ashley since 2021, and Doug since 2017, bringing passion, local insight, and a strong sense of community to the Council table.

Their efforts have helped shape the Shire’s direction and supported many initiatives that have benefited residents across our Shire.

Council sincerely thanks Christine, Ashley and Doug for their time, energy and advocacy, and wishes them all the very best in their future endeavours.
