Today the Environmental Health team will be working with an accredited helicopter contractor to conduct larvicide treatment.
Treatment will occur on the Coastal wetlands Dalyellup to Forrest Beach. The helicopter may be observed working across these areas dispersing granular larvicides across the wetland larval breeding sites.
Biting adults are likely to be present at this time of the year due to the large volumes of standing water across the Shire.
Please note that whilst mosquito-borne viruses have not been detected so far this season, the Shire highly recommends the public to take protective measures to avoid being bitten.
Measures include limiting your time outdoors in mosquito prone areas, wearing long loose clothing and using appropriate insect repellents (with active ingredient DEET).
For further information regarding insect repellents, including their usage for children, please refer to
Please contact the Shire’s Environmental Health services on 08 9727 0222 or info@capel.wa.gov.au if you have any questions.
