As part of our ongoing support to community and emergency storm response, the Shire is offering FREE GREEN WASTE DISPOSAL for residents at our Capel Transfer Station (79 Range Road) from today through to Sunday. Please check our opening hours here.
Key information
- Free disposal is available to residents of the Shire of Capel.
- Proof of residency is required via Drivers Licence, Rates Notice or Utility Bill.
- Residents are required to stop at the gate per normal procedure to allow an attendant to inspect the load and record your details.
- We will only be accepting residential green waste free of charge, no commercial waste. Normal fees and charges will apply for everything else – EFPOS and Tip Passes accepted.
- This offer is effective immediately through to the end of business Sunday 7th June 2026.
Clean-up Update
Contrary to previous communications, our teams were able to be out yesterday as the weather had cleared and have been hard at work the entire weekend. If there is a tree down on a road or road verge or in public open space, please report it to the Shire by calling (08) 9727 0222. The Shire cannot assist with trees down on private property. We appreciate your patience as we prioritise major roads to limit traffic disruption as much as possible.
Emergency Service Update
The Shire has been made aware that Western Power and Telstra continue to work at restoring outages across their services. Customers who have experienced a power outage for longer than 12 consecutive hours can apply for an extended outage payment from Western Power once the power is reconnected here.
