Council Meeting - August OCM

Last week, the August OCM was held in Council Chambers, Capel. Elected members participate in discussion and debate on a wide variety of issues to make decisions representing the overall public interest of the Shire.
Some highlights from the August OCM include:
  • Council adopted the Corporate Business Plan 2023-27, which sets out Council's projects for the next four years.
  • Council endorsed the adoption of the Shire's first 'Tiny Houses Policy'. This is an innovative policy that will allow residents within the Shire to build alternative housing and short-stay accommodation under certain regulations.
  • Council unanimously approved changes to the Bushfire Brigades Fire Control Officers, which will now appoint four Deputy FCO’s on a 2 year term. The new officers are Daniel Tait, Mark Roberts, Jeff McDougall, and Barry Bell.
  • We saw the review and adoption of Council's first 'Child Safety Awareness Policy' which brings the Shire in line with national mandatory reporting guidelines.
  • Council supported the contribution of $500,000 in capital contribution to the development of the Dalyellup Multipurpose Youth and Community Centre.
  • Council agreed to dispose of Lot 39, Ilmenite Cres Capel, whilst Lot 36 still remains available.
