The Shire of Capel Libraries are excited to receive this year’s Better Beginnings Book Boxes, ready to be shared with local families as part of the statewide early literacy program.
Better Beginnings connects families with books through free book boxes designed to inspire a love of reading and learning for Western Australian children. The program encourages families to read, talk, sing, draw and play together every day, helping to build strong early literacy skills from birth.
The Blue Baby Book Boxes are provided to families by Child Health Nurses during the 8-week health check. If families miss receiving their box at this appointment, they are encouraged to drop into one of the Shire of Capel Libraries, where staff will happily provide a box.
The Red Preschool Book Boxes will be delivered by the Shire’s library team to local schools across the Shire of Capel, ensuring children aged 2–5 years receive another special set of books to enjoy and share with their families.
The Shire of Capel is proud to participate in the Better Beginnings Program, an initiative of the State Library of Western Australia, supported by Western Australian local governments, helping children across the state develop a lifelong love of reading.
