The Shire of Capel is pleased to announce that the South Dalyellup Beach Foreshore Redevelopment Project has received a $1 million funding commitment from the WA Government.

The Shire acknowledges the support of Hon Stephen Dawson MLC Minister for Regional Development and Hon Don Punch MLA Minister for South West, along with the South West Development Commission, for their continued advocacy for regional communities and essential coastal infrastructure. The funding is an election commitment.

Shire President John Fergusson said the funding will help the Shire deliver much-needed improvements to one of Dalyellup’s most valued coastal areas.

“The Dalyellup foreshore plays an important role in community recreation, surf lifesaving, and emergency response,” he said. “This redevelopment will help us improve accessibility and overall amenity, ensuring the area remains safe, inclusive and well-equipped to support a growing community. The final design will be developed through a collaborative process with the community as we work with our appointed designer on the concept options.”

The project is expected to contribute to the local and regional economy by enhancing Dalyellup’s appeal as a place to live, visit and invest. Upgrades to access and surrounding public spaces are anticipated to increase visitation, supporting tourism, small business activity and recreation opportunities across the South West. The Shire also intends to prioritise the engagement of local contractors and suppliers during construction to support local employment.

Dalyellup continues to experience strong population growth, and community feedback has consistently identified the need for improved coastal infrastructure and safer access points. The State Government’s funding commitment enables the Shire to progress a high-quality redevelopment that reflects the needs of current and future residents and supports the long-term liveability of the area.

Community consultation and design development will begin in early 2026 and continue through to August 2026. Residents will be invited to provide feedback and help shape the preferred concept design. Construction of the selected design is anticipated to occur between December 2026 and April 2027.

As with all major projects, these timeframes are indicative and may be refined as planning progresses.

The Shire looks forward to working closely with the community and our State Government partners to deliver a revitalised foreshore that will serve Dalyellup residents, community groups and visitors for many years to come.
