Dalyellup Multipurpose Community & Youth Centre (DMCYC)

The DMCYC project was awarded in December 2024, which then triggered site occupation and the commencement of works by the contractor (Perkins).

August 2025 Update:

With construction moving quickly and all the details coming together, the Dalyellup Multipurpose Community and Youth Centre (DMCYC) is taking shape as a vibrant, welcoming hub for the whole community.

The construction of the DMCYC is progressing well, with the superstructure complete and roof installation underway. Over the coming months, residents will see the brickwork taking shape after the aluminum farmings for the windows have been installed. Once the brickwork is completed the internal fit-out is next, walls will be going up, fresh coats of paint, doors being installed, and built-in cabinetry added to bring the spaces to life.

At the same time, planning continues behind the scenes! Public artworks, reflecting both indigenous and western themes, have been chosen and are currently being digitised. These designs will feature across window films, etched plywood doors, and custom perforated screens - infusing the building with colour, creativity, and a strong sense of Dalyellup’s identity.

As well as welcoming carefully chosen furnishings, the facility is gearing up with new RFID technology to make borrowing and returning library items quick and easy. Behind the scenes, audio-visual and IT systems are being set up, so everything works smoothly and is ready to go when the doors open.

An Expression of Interest (EOI) process is about to open for a café operator, offering an exciting opportunity for a local business to be part of the new Dalyellup Multipurpose Community and Youth Centre. The café will play a key role in activating the space by creating a welcoming place for people to meet and connect, while complementing the facilities wide range of community services and programs.

April 2025 Update:

Exciting progress is being made on the Dalyellup Multipurpose Community and Youth Centre (DMCYC), with the project really starting to take shape!

Over the past month, major groundwork has been completed, including the installation of in-ground services and pouring of the footings.

Next up is the pouring of the concrete slab - an exciting step that will pave the way for the structural steel to go up.

Once the steel is in place, the community will get a glimpse of the striking design of the future DMCYC, bringing the vision of this vibrant new hub to life.

March 2025 Update:

  • Perkins commenced site establishment (fencing, site compound, etc) starting 6 January 2025.
  • From there they have commenced with shop drawings development to get all the long lead items ordered to support the construction program.
    • This has and still is keeping both the design and project team very busy in what we call RFI (Request for information) and design clarification to ensure all is well.
  • While all this is ongoing, Perkins have commenced civil works on site that now see’s the site being levelled ready for service installation pre-lay (power, water, sewer etc) and foundation form work.
    • In addition to this the car park area has also been prepared with drainage being installed ahead of other works.
  • There are a multitude of other actions also ongoing, to many to mention, that all work to see this project progress through its anticipated timeline and milestones.
  • Finally, the Shire has successfully engaged the services of an artistic coordinator (Joanne Hill) for the development of the public and built form art that will be included in this project.
    • Joanne comes with a wealth of experience in this space having been part of the BORR project team for very much the same work.
    • We see Joanne’s support in this space help us achieve a really good outcome and link to both community and country.
