The Shire of Capel have appointed element advisory to assist in the development of our first Place Plan for 2023 to 2027 that will inform a new place-based approach to coordinate future development, action and investment in the community.
The Shire’s 2022 Community Perception Survey highlighted that while the lifestyle that our environment provides connects us all, the people that live in the district and in each of the localities are unique, with vastly different priorities, needs and future aspirations.
The Shire’s new Place Plan 2023 to 2027 will capture the qualities of our environment and our communities that unify us all, and those qualities that define our individuality in each of our unique localities – Boyanup, Gelorup, Dalyellup, Capel, Stratham, Elgin, Forrest Beach and Peppermint Grove Beach.
In late May, the Shire will be running in-person community workshops alongside an online place-defining questionnaire.
We are seeking to understand what is good and valued about our built and natural environment; our common values; our history that needs to be preserved and celebrated; and our future needs and aspirations.
We invite you to help us capture the unique ‘Sense of Place’ that will define the Shire of Capel and its localities by attending the workshops and/or completing the questionnaire later this month.
Details of workshops are below!

Is it the fresh air and ocean views?

Is it the Tuart forests and rolling farmlands?

Is it the urban lifestyle close to the beach?
A Place Vision for Capel will ensure that future investment into our region preserves and enhances the unique character of our local areas that our communities love.
We invite you to attend one of our workshops – everyone is welcome!
