Roads & Footpaths
The Shire has regular maintenance programs set in place. The Shire allocates funding from the annual budget towards construction, replacement and maintenance of footpaths and kerbing on thoroughfares annually.

The Shire encourages property owners to maintain and enhance their verges to make our streets look better, use less water and provide other environmental benefits.
The Shire’s Nature Verge booklet provides information on using local native species, planting out, caring for plants and Shire requirements.
The booklet includes application forms for residents to develop their verges or request a street tree.
Activities in road reserves are subject to the Activities on Thoroughfares & Trading in Thoroughfares and Public Places Local Law.
All regulatory signage mounted on yellow posts comes under the jurisdiction of Main Roads WA. Phone Main Roads WA – Bunbury office on 9725 5600 or visit their website to report any problems.
Other signage is mostly the responsibility of the Shire with some signage still being the responsibility of Main Roads WA. To report a fault or damage to signs or to request street signage within the

The Shire of Capel’s Parks and Public Open Spaces are maintained on a regular basis. This includes issues with street trees, reticulation, median strips and roundabout plantings, park toilets, lighting and rubbish bins.
