The Shire was informed yesterday that the Department of Transport will be conducting geotechnical surveys of local government coastal areas including the Shire of Capel. Scanning will occur at areas in Peppermint Grove Beach and Dalyellup over the next couple of weeks.
This survey work will provide data that will be critical to assessing (in the future) the likely most effective coastal risk mitigation measures and support the Shireโs ongoing work in coastal management.
The Shire will assist the DoT contractor with traffic and pedestrian management which is necessary to ensure public safety and that the testing equipment is not accidentally affected by external sources of vibration such as cars.
Please be aware that access to the beach and the following roads may be restricted at times:
- Norton Promenade / Hutt Drive in Dalyellup
- Barndi Walk / Wave Walk / Peppermint Grove Terrace / McCourt Place / Connell Court / Summers View and Hardey Terrace in Peppermint Grove Beach.
