Fact or Faction 2021 – Girls in tech
18 August at 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm
Have you ever thought about trying to tackle a social issue or change the world? Maybe starting your own business or doing a complete career swap, but aren’t sure where to start?
Come get inspired by two amazing young entrepreneurs using technology to do all of this and how easy your new journey could be to take that first step.
Caitlin is currently a freelance producer of all types of mixed reality projects, virtual production and digital experiences. Whether it’s a website, virtual reality experience, motion capture or Arduino and robotics, she loves bringing ideas to life with technology.
Before beginning a career in tech, Caitlin had a very successful modelling career. Gracing the pages of Vogue seven times in five different countries and working for the likes of Chanel, Prada and Louis Vuitton. Her extensive experience being on large productions and sets with some of the most amazing creatives in the world drove her passions into the world of technology.
Caitlin’s love for programming and all things tech started at the bright young age of 13 when her dad brought her a ‘teach yourself how to code’ book. She was hooked! Locking herself away in her room until she had created her first game, Mr Wormy.
Driven by her own life experiences with bullying, Alexis (Lexy) McDonald is changing the lives of young women across the country by creating her own social media platform app HerHelp.
Lexy is a young local girl who is making a difference in our community by encouraging, guiding and supporting girls through daily challenges in a safe and inclusive space.
HerHelp provides an interactive, safe space and support for issues around confidence and relationships and provides a networking forum.
