Youth Week – Expressions of Interest Call Out

The Shire of Capel is calling out for EOIs to attend the Capel Youth Open Day event that will take place during Youth Week in April 2024.

The event has the aim to increase the awareness of all the amazing opportunities that are available to the young people who live, work or study within the Shire of Capel.

The goal is to host an Open Day at the Capel Community Centre where organisations such as yourselves, can host a stall, a pop-up activity, or give our freebies to local youth and families to increase community participation and connection.

We would love to have as many sporting clubs, art programs, drama clubs, adventure groups, circus performers, and support services who work with people who live in Capel or surrounds to be able to attend as possible.

The young people involved in these groups will be able to talk about their experiences, showcase their work, and recruit new members to increase youth engagement throughout the Shire.

The event details are as follows:

  • Name – Shire of Capel Youth Open Day
  • Date – Saturday 6th April 2024
  • Time – 1:00-3:30 pm
  • Venue – Capel Community Centre (including the hall, youth room, meeting room, kitchen, and carpark)
  • Materials – We will provide as many tables and chairs as you need. Please bring any additional items for your stall/pop-up
  • Your Stall – It would be wonderful if you could bring some props, freebies, images of the young people, and youth representatives to host a stall.
  • Your Activity – If you would like to run an activity on the day (not compulsory), please let us know. We are very open about what this could look like for each group. Whether it’s a sporting drill, art pop-up, cheer demonstration, or encouraging young people to play a drama game in the youth room, we are happy to hear any and all ideas of how you want to engage the young people and to support you to make this happen!
  • Parameters – It will be a great opportunity to give out flyers about your organisation on the day. It is up to you how you engage with the families. We just ask that whatever you run is free of charge for participants. The only businesses able to sell on the day will be the food trucks, as we want this event to be free of charge and not for fundraising purposes.

Please email the Youth Officer by Sunday 22nd October if your group would like to attend, and what you would like to host.
