Cartoon Exhibition

Adventure over to the Capel Public Library from the 17th of February till the 11th of March to view a retrospective exhibition of Western Australian cartoon artist and their work 1900-2000
This exhibition includes works demonstrating the artist’s skill using media such as watercolors sketches, oils, and newsprint.
It begs the question: “are cartoonists really artists merely using cartoons as an expression of their artistic talent?”
Some of the artists who are exhibited here have since passed away; others left W.A. to continue in their profession overseas or on the eastern seaboard or simply retired. Some did not continue with cartooning choosing to either use their artistic talents in other semi-related fields (e.g. animation, book illustrations, architectural rendering) or leaving it altogether.
This exhibition is about those artists’ legacy by paying homage to their collective skills and depth of talent because they all contributed to the artistic heritage of Western Australia.
